Get ready, West Virginia— Change the Air Foundation is proud to announce a new bill proposal we helped spearhead alongside our passionate West Virginia volunteers. Introduced by WV State Delegate Adam Burkhammer, House Bill 2353 is all about setting high remediation standards and spreading the word to keep our communities safe and informed about the dangers of mold and water damage.
If passed, this West Virginia bill will:
Safer Mold Remediation Standards: The bill requires all mold remediation follow the ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard, ensuring every job is done right with certified “direct supervisors” leading the charge.
Knowledge is Power: The Department of Public Health is launching an awareness campaign—including website resources and expert contacts to help West Virginian’ tackle mold’s health risks. Additionally, they’ll review cutting-edge remediation tech every five years.
Community Protection: Mold remediation professionals will need to register with the state, proving active third-party certification and financial liability.
This bill is a win for our health and homes—stay tuned as we cheer it on through the Legislature!
