Another huge legislative victory for the mold community.
Working alongside our advocacy alliance partners at the IICRC and our passionate Connecticut policy volunteers, Change the Air Foundation recently helped successfully pass a major provision within CT HB 5222 into law, which establishes mold remediation certification requirements for all residential housing and also the requirement that all mold remediation in the state follows the ANSI/IICRC S520 industry standard of care.
We extend our deepest gratitude to CT State Representatives Steve Winter and Cristin McCarthy Vahey for their unwavering support and leadership in championing this crucial indoor air quality legislation.
This legislation marks the SECOND state bill Change the Air Foundation has helped get signed into law since 2022 as we continue building nationwide momentum for stronger consumer protections, industry standards and accountability, and healthier indoor environments.
For far too long, consumers dealing with mold and water damage have faced unsafe and inconsistent practices, limited oversight, and few consumer protections. That is beginning to change because of our work and your continued support.
Change the Air Foundation is proud to be at the front of a growing national movement that is shaking up the industry and pushing for higher standards rooted in science, public health, and consumer safety.
A huge thank you to every Connecticut volunteer, advocate, supporter, and impacted family who helped make this victory possible through your persistence, hard work, and passion. We also want to thank our passionate donors whose support allows us to continue to do this important work.
Together, we are proving that meaningful policy change is possible when communities stand up together and fight for change.
The movement is growing. Our community is being heard and we are just getting started.
