Great news for Iowa residents! Change the Air Foundation is proud to announce a new bill proposal we helped spearhead with our passionate Iowa volunteers. House Bill 731 will make our homes and workplaces safer by regulating mold remediation. Introduced by State Representative Helena Hayes, this bill sets clear standards to shield our communities from mold’s harmful effects and provide vital knowledge and stronger consumer protections.
Highlights of the bill include:
All mold remediation must now meet the trusted ANSI/IICRC S520 standard. A registry of active third-party certified mold remediators will ensure every remediation job has qualified personnel on-site.
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services will launch a campaign with brochures, online resources, and tools to help Iowans understand the serious health risks of mold and water damage.
This bill proposal is a win for our health and homes—stay tuned as we cheer it on through the Legislature!
